In this episode of Smart Forests Radio, we talk with Claudia Arellano, geographer and specialist in Disaster Studies and Risks. She is currently a consultant for the Disaster Risk Management Department of the Municipality of Pucón, Araucanía Region, Chile . Claudia has more than 11 years of experience in the study of disaster risks and territorial planning , covering topics such as urban planning, housing, environmental education and sustainability. In this interview, we talk about the importance of risk knowledge for the prevention of forest fires, the methodologies applied in disaster risk management in Chile, the relevance of linking the public sector with foundations and NGOs for the dissemination of information and work with communities, and the upcoming challenges around territorial planning and the new Fire Law and the Framework Law on Climate Change .
