This is a short sound compilation from a visit to Ecodorp Boekel by
soil
specialist Marc Siepman. Together with Ecodorp inhabitants we walked through the food forest/garden and Marc advised us on improving the local
soil
quality to enhance
biodiversity
. In this fragment, he discusses the importance of brandnetel (nettle, in English) for enriching
soil
life and
biodiversity
.
It is important to note that unfortunately most of the inhabitants that developed and care for this food forest/garden were unable to attend this event due to its unfortunate timing. Therefore, the consultation may not incorporate the needed local knowledge to become truly engaged with the local land. Nonetheless, this event helped to inform how thinking about
soil
quality can help to engage with
biodiversity
challenges more generally.
